Welcome to Victor

Hi,

I`m Victor.  I am 4 years old and live in a village called Gbandi in the Kolahun region of Liberia.

My mum`s name is  Mollay and my dad is Robert.  I have a brother named Joseph who is a little bit younger than me.

I live in a house make on unfired mud bricks with a corrugated metal roof. Not long ago I suffered from Malaria but I received treatment from the Health Post and I am now fully recovered.

Staff and children from House of Eden at Cobblers Hall have sponsored me for a whole year which means that the money they have fundraised will go towards ensuring that I get safe water to drink, nutritious food to help me grow and medical care when I am a little unwell.

I will be sending my new found friends drawings and photos throughout the year and they have promised to do the same.

Jan is going to put my drawings and photos on the website so you can all see them.

I am now officially a member of the House of Eden family.

Staff Commendation Award Scheme

House of Eden launch a staff commendation award scheme at their October annual staff conference at the Eden Arms Hotel Rushyford:

Above and Beyond the Call of Duty

Anyone can nominate a member of staff who they feel has gone Above and Beyond the Call of Duty.

We are particularly keen for parents to contribute their recommendations.

There are times when managers, parents, nursery staff have commented when someone has done something particularly helpful or considerate over and above what you would normally expect during the course of a days work.

We decided that it would be nice to acknowledge this extra effort.

The ABCD award scheme was launched at the annual staff conference.

Part of the mornings activities required a volunteer from each nursery.

We’ve all been in that situation, a room full of 50 people and everyone looking at the floor not wanting to be selected waiting for someone else to put their hand up……, well I’m pleased to say 6 volunteers stepped forward and made a significant contribution to the enigma of the ‘Chinese Whispers’ exercise.

To get the ball rolling and in recognition of their positive attitude we decided they had earned a commendation and were presented with a certificate and a badge bearing the letter A.

If they are successful in getting another commendation they will get the letter B etc.

The objective is to eventually get a full set, ABCD.

Lets see what happens over the coming months!

Well done to:
Chelsea Kipling, Cobblers Hall
Sharon Edson, Bishop Middleham
Toni Hodges, Evenwood
Sue Woods, Fishburn
Rhianne Rhyton, Aycliffe Village
Donna Hartley, Newton Aycliffe

Wear your badges with pride……………..

The person who achieves the best results over the next 12 months will be announced at our 2012 conference and will be in line to be ‘Employee of the Year’ along with a special prize.

So, please email your nominations to sue@edennursery.co.uk when you feel it is deserved.

We will update the website regularly on progress.
